It works fine for me with 1.0.5 as in debian sid.

What is your version of the gst-plugins-base libraries (incl.
libgstriff-1.0.so) ?

On a debian/ubuntu system this would show you:

 $ dpkg -l libgstreamer*1.0*

I wonder if maybe you didn't upgrade libgstriff-1.0.so
