I haven't re-tested on master, but it should be all working with those patches.
 It's just a question of whether more changes would be a good thing.  If you
think that not changing other elements is the right way forward then I'm happy
to bow to your greater knowledge - I was thinking of changing GstPad because it
had been suggested on IRC as something that shouldn't break anything, but
seemed dangerous.  Thanks for your help.
