We mostly have the code for that in the proxy editing branch it is
https://github.com/dark-al/gst-editing-services/blob/proxy-editing/ges/ges-asset.c#L952
and around, we should cherry pick that code and add a:

    gboolean ges_asset_reload (GESAsset *asset);

method that makes use of that infrastructure.
