Faad and the whole libav is missing in the binary build for OS X maintained by
the GStreamer Team and available at
http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/data/pkg/osx/1.2.2/

The build also miss an AAC encoder. I would suggest faac, but Sebastian
suggests voaacenc which is also missing in the build. Without it or faac and
faad, mpeg-4 audio is really hard.
