I'm not certain whether this is related, but better safe than sorry.   When
running the test (fakesink or alsa) using mp3s, with GST_TRACE=mem-live, I
notice the count of:

GstCaps              : (14) 0xb6703b38 ("application/x-id3")

increases.

The longer the run, the higher the number.  It does not directly correlate to a
song transition, but over time, as the heap grows, this count seems to as well.
