I'm sorry, I completely misread your patch :-( I'm not sure how it could ever
produce useless data? You start with one or two channels, and you end up with 2
channels which may be the same.

Also attaching some improvement patches, so we can forward the receipts
preferences to the source, ie implement the "stereo" property for the sender.
