i updated to current CVS and rebuilt with gcc-3.2 (debian prerelease).  Now
it works with AlienSong.  However, i'm still getting the same problem with
a large MPEG1 from a VCD.

At least something is working -- good progress.  When i have time i'll
get on IRC and try debugging the large MPEG1.
