[gst-devel] Problem running ./configure w/ CVS

So I fire up configure, and everything appears to go fine, until it starts
generating the Makefiles.  For some reason, configure hangs at:

config.status: creating gst/Makefile

The version of my tools this:

autoconf   - 2.57
automake   - 1.5
libtool    - 1.4.2a
pkg-config - 0.11.0

This is on Debian, with a bit of a mixed environment (the GNU autoconf
tools are from unstable).
