The fix should be better, agreed, but reverting is not the right way. 
We have more bugs that are hard to reproduce for the same reason,
because it's just a matter of order.  Either we mark them more clearly
in the code so they stand out during debugging, or we prefer one over
the other so we have deterministic behaviour until there's a proper fix.

All just MO of course :)  And yes, one day I hope we can rely on MPEG
playing back correctly again.  It's only like the easiest format that
absolutely everyone plays ...
