[gst-devel] Announcement

Greetings to everyone,

having read the GStreamer-Documentation during last week and weekend,
the following idea for an application came up to me: An enhanced
sound-conversion (and maybe kind of ripping-tool). Primary purpose is
reading an audio-file in the various supported formats and providing the
user with the ability to convert it to any supported audio format, e.g.:
	- wav -> mp3
	- wav -> ogg
	- ogg -> mp3
Alright, one could say: Hey, there are already command-line tools that
provide this functionality as well as frontends to those. But it takes
reading manual pages and usage information to complete the given task of
audio conversion and I don't think that the average user is interested
in details.
I was also thinking about the possibility to save internet radio streams
in any of the supported formats.

If someone is interested in participating in this project, has
suggestions or just wants to say: Hey, there are already a lot of
projects that try to do the same -> Let me know;-)

So far,

Thomas
