WMV files are just ASF files with a funky suffix. For "proof":
$ file -L ~/Movies/*wmv
/home/bnocera/Movies/Conan-Triumph-at-Star-Wars.wmv: Microsoft ASF
/home/bnocera/Movies/DailyShow.ScottRichter.wmv:     Microsoft ASF
/home/bnocera/Movies/malec.wmv:                      Microsoft ASF

/home/bnocera/Movies/metro.wmv:                      Microsoft ASF
/home/bnocera/Movies/vid.wmv:                        Microsoft ASF
/home/bnocera/Movies/volkelsmokin.wmv:               Microsoft ASF

Whether or not it's working properly is another matter.
