I'm porting pango right now. cairotextoverlay in its current form does
not support multi-line text or text wrapping, so I'm not sure how useful
it is in practice for more complex tasks.

Both libcdio and libcdparanoia work just fine. Newer versions of libcdio
ship a libcdio_paranoia that uses cdparanoia's correction/verify
algorithms on top of libcdio's reading routines. You just have to decide
which one you want in -base, or decide to have both cd reading plugins
in -good (which is what most people favour anyway IIRC).
