Cerbero on XP

Any chance that being logged in as Administrator would change how mingw
installs? I am running XP. Do I need to make myself a plain user account
for doing the install?

I removed every installed package then reinstalled them. During the install
of MinGW I chose everything as instructed and, in the absence of
instructions, elected to download latest packages.

In my start->Programs->Mingw->MinGW Shell, I checked; it is starting
C:\MinGW\msys\1.0\msys.bat and the start-in directory is
C:\MinGW\msys\1.0\bin. I have determined that / is C:\MinGW\msys\1.0

But when I run the bat, echo $HOME says /c. And there is no directory named
/home.

Any idea what sets the environment var for $HOME? Do I need to add a user?

Thanks for your patience. I really, really DID try to follow the
instructions.

Wes
