Since I'm using a statically built, cross-compiled GStreamer, I 
downloaded gstreamer-1.0-x86-1.4.5.msi instead. The gst-launch.exe 
shipped with it also hangs at the end of the video.

There's no video to be seen actually, since it seems gst-libav is 
missing from that MSI package so there's no way to decode the video. 
Only the audio plays. But it hangs at the end nonetheless. I guess this 
eliminates gst-libav as the source of the problem.
