Hi there,

For people or companies looking for new clients in GStreamer related
work :

Unfortunately I'm having less and less time for development, and I don't
have the time anymore to delve into these problems without being
distracted by other (net+sysadmin and management related) duties, that's
why I'm asking for some help.

We are using the Boxtream software I wrote 10 years ago
(Python+Gstreamer) to live stream, record and publish courses and
conferences here at University of New-Caledonia (see
http://tv.univ-nc.nc/ for the results)

It has become more and more difficult to purchase hardware that is
compatible with this software, mostly DV encoders and scan converters,
especially because of the global move from Simple Definition to High
Definition, and the lack of time to keep up with the advances GStreamer
has made over these years.

So we are looking for a developer with strong Python and GStreamer
skills, willing (for money !) to delve into the code and :

1 - Make it work with recent versions of GStreamer : we currently use
0.10 on Debian Lenny (very old) and needless to say with newer
releases there are some problems causing our software to stop working
  (mostly pipeline stalling)

2 - Make it work with high definition hardware (that we've got)

3 - Fix some minor problems.

Because having a real testing environment is difficult and costly, the
best would probably be for the developer to come to New-Caledonia for a
2 to 4 weeks stay (plan one week off to visit :
http://images.google.com/search?tbm=isch&hl=en&source=hp&q=new+caledonia)

Of course, this is Free Software licensed under the terms of the GNU
GPL, and the latest code is here : http://depot.univ-nc.nc/sources/

NB : We're not looking for a complete rewrite, the software is stable
and has recorded thousands of hours of videos. We simply want to make it
"up to date" wrt related software and hardware to ease future
deployments and maintainance.

Is there anyone interested ?

If so then please send a quotation to me by private message.

Thank you for reading

bye
