The PPA is out dated, I seriously think the distro should take care of
updating to the 1.2. The pipeline works fine on 1.2, as videomixer have
got quite some improvement.</pre>

I finally compiled the latest git version and, to my understanding,
the pipeline management of the 1.2.1 (and pre 1.3) is not much
better regarding my issue that the 1.0.8.<br>
The application still hangs most of the times.<br>

You should look at the alpha element documentation. It's doing some
advanced fuzzy matching on colors which can be (and probably must be)
tweaked to you scene.
