removal media on scsi drives

What sort of support is supposed to exist currently for removal media on scsi devices
in hal? I have a Maxoptix T5-2600 magnetic optical drive attached to a Fedora Core 4
machine and lshal doesn't show any entries for it. The details of the drive are...

from /proc/scsi/scsi. I am interested in customizing hal if possible to recognize this
device so that the Gnome Volume Manager will automatically mount media inserted 
into the drive. The media is all XFS format opticals but my understanding is that hal
will recognize the format of disk in question. Thanks in advance for any advice on this.
