I have some more info on my problem.
I don't think its a hal issue, but rather a udev one. I cannot seem to
find a udev mailing list so i'l ask my question here.

When i try to lookup info on the device usind udevinfo -q all -p
/block/hda i get the error "device not found in database". The device
exists in /dev, also the entry in sys is there(/sys/block/hda).

the complete list of my udev database is (using udevinfo -d)

/class/input/ts0=/dev/input/ts0
/class/input/event2=/dev/input/event2
/class/input/event0=/dev/input/event0
/class/input/event1=/dev/input/event1
/class/misc/hw_random=/dev/hwrng
/class/sound/seq=/dev/snd/seq
/class/sound/timer=/dev/snd/timer
/class/input/mouse0=/dev/input/mouse0
/class/input/mice=/dev/input/mice
/block/hdc=/dev/hdc

any help would be appreciated
