HAL 0.5.4 and KDE 3.4.3 problem with DVD's

For me your problem looks like the "hal doesn't recognize mounting of 
devices" problem, have a look for that thread on the hal mailing list.

Gentoo provides a patch which make it possible to use kde-3.4.3 with hal 
0.5.x and dbus 0.36.2 (they got the patch from Kubuntu and I think they 
got it from SuSE).
