error in executing hal

hi..
i am trying to debug hal..
i recompiled hal using prefix /usr/arv and  --enable-debug,..

i killed the system hal and executed my hal as /usr/arv/bin/hald
--daemon=yes --verbose=yes --use-syslog..

later wen i do ps, i dont see hald running, and i ind the following log
message in syslog..
 hald_dbus.c:3258: dbus_bus_get(): Failed to connect to socket
/usr/local/var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory

what is the reason and how do i overcome it?
