The only vendor I can influence is Sun Microsystems, Inc. :) I suppose 
ZFS recognition code could be added to volume_id.

That's pretty cool. My excuse for not implementing this in Solaris right 
now would be that it's not in my project's requirements. Detours into 
Install-land could be fatal to the schedule, and uh... y'know, I need my 
bonus this year :) In other words, it's a problem worth solving, but 
finding the right solution is a whole other endeavor.
