I once sent patch to take default mount root from HAL itself (this was the 
time when we still had storage.policy namespace). This was rejected; may be 
because it used declared obsolete property. I have to ask once more - what 
harm does having storage.policy.mount_root (or whatever name is) do? But 
current situation forces *every* third-party tool that is using HALto 
actually mount devices to hardcode /media meaning that changing it in one 
place almost for sure breaks something in another.

Being able to set it on HAL level just would make it consistent and easy to 
manage.
