[BUG] : hdd led blinks constantly

I'm running Kubuntu 6.06 on an IBM Thinkpad R40... HAL 0.5.7 is
running but there is no frequent blinking.

Perhaps your LED also shows CDROM activity (the bug report also
suggests that), in which case the only way to mitigate that (in
software) would be to slow down HAL's CDROM polling.
