Problem launching hald

I haven't explicitly specified any options as gentoo uses this ebuild system.
But, I'm sure that, the options with dbus match with that of HAL. Both store
their config file in /etc/dbus-1. HAL stores hal.conf in /etc/dbus-1/system.d
directory and everything seems to be fine configuration wise unless I missed
something.

ebuild system in gentoo automatically creates the "haldaemon" user and group
which, I have confirmed by looking into /etc/passwd and /etc/group.

What else am I missing ? I haven't got a clue !! I have been trying to make
this work since yesterday. I even tried downgrading HAL and DBUS and that
didn't help either.

I've run out of ideas for now. Any ideas ?

Thanks for any help that'd come along.

Kevin
