Slightly Off Topic: Gnome Volume Manager

Can I still use the Gnome Volume Manager without an
X-Windows.  I plan to start my system in console mode.
 I know I can still run HAL.  I would still like to
auto mount if possible.  Otherwise, I would have to
some-how mount it manually.  Thanks.
