Could you please send the output of:
  
   lshal -lu /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer

And could you also please check if your machine works also with these quirks 
(please test under X and console (tty)):
  
   power_management.quirk.vbe_post = true
   power_management.quirk.vbemode_restore = true
