No. http://lwn.net/Articles/198461/ gives an example - I wrote a patch 
for the isight some time ago that does this. Take a look at 
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu-gutsy-lum.git;a=blob;f=ubuntu/media/isight/isight.c 
which contains all the code necessary to do this. It's pretty easy to 
then glue this onto the uvc driver.
