hal crashing/not running

Hi,

I'm trying to run hal-0.5.11rc2 on FreeBSD 7.0-Stable with Gnome 2.22.1,
but that doesn't seem to work. The message I get when trying to start
hal is: "pid 14928 (hald), uid 560: exited on signal 11".

My /var/log/messages is filled with: "May 17 15:12:34 yokozuna
gnome-keyring-daemon[1394]: failed to initialize a HAL context: (null)
May 17 15:12:34 yokozuna gnome-keyring-daemon[1394]: Scheduling hal
init retry". Reinstalling several related applications didn't help.

Has anyone an idea what I can do next? Gnome doesn't run very well
without hal. Several applications crash when opening the "open.." and
"save as.." dialog.
