LifeDrive and T|X not seen by hal

The FS probing is handled by libvolume_id, which is part of udev. It 
sounds like it's failing to identify the filesystem properly, probably 
due to the bizarreness in the FAT you've described. A quick check of the 
test image you provided seems to suggest that it's entirely missing the 
normal signatures, so the failure is kind of unsurprising. I'll take a 
quick look at the "specs" (such as they are for FAT) and see if there's 
an obvious fix that won't lead to false positives.
