Strange mounting issue with ext3

I didn't say that HAL should change the ownership and/or permissions of a Unix fs.
I just wonder why the hell HAL doesn't mount an ext3 fs on behalf of XX while he succesfully does
it for a VFAT.

BTW, we're talking about the mount point's ownership/permissions, not the fs'.
