Strange mounting issue with ext3

Indeed it absolutely shouldn't.

Because there is no "uid"/"gid" option for ext3, as there is for vfat,
iso9660, or ntfs.

The mount point's permissions become identical to the permissions of
the fs' root directory after mounting.
