hal daemon starting problem

Hi
  I  have cross compiled hal of version 0.5.9 to davinci (arm processor).
But after starting the hald daemon with the following command  hald
--daemon=yes --verbose=yes.

Whenever i execute hal-device it allows prints the following error message

*Could not initialise connection to hald.
Normally this means the HAL daemon (hald) is not running or not ready.
*

Hal verbose log consists of only the following lines

20:14:53.653 [I] hald.c:532: hal 0.5.9
20:14:53.656 [I] hald.c:541: Will daemonize
20:14:53.656 [I] hald.c:542: Becoming a daemon

Can some one please help me in starting the hal or tell me what is the error
or problem?

The following is the configuration option used for the compilation of hal

--with-backend=linux --with-os-type=redhat --disable-policy-kit*



The following components are used

1)  kernel linux-2.6.18
2)  hal 0.5.9
3)  udev 0.105
4) monta-vista toolchain mvl5_0
