Hi,
Here's my contribution to your project. I believe it is all correct. I'm
about 90% certain the dv2500 part is correct, lshal doesn't seem to work
when haldaemon is not running. However I could not test it out as after
adding the utopia repo to Fedora 7 and updating hal*, haldaemon would not
start. If you have any suggestions for getting Hal going again, or for
removing the utopia packages and reverting to the previous state, please
enlighten me. I'll figure something out there. Anyway I hope that is
helpful.

Commited to git HEAD. Please verify as soon if your hal is running/working
again. Thanks,

I finally managed to get the newer HAL up and running, a little
searching lead me to disable selinux and update dbus as well. In the
process I also figured out how to go back to an earlier HAL with an rpm
command, then a yum command. Anyway, my patch seems to work! No dmesg
output on the keypresses, lshal | grep keymap returns the keymap, and
the keypresses show up in xev. And all is well with my setup.
