It is still kind of hardcoded. We use the patch (and libsmbios) in
general in Ubuntu since we are currently stabilizing on 2.6.28. I
assume we'll entirely get rid of it in the next Ubuntu version which
will probably ship with 2.6.30.

Yeah, I was thinking as soon as we can be on 2.6.30 and verify that the
kernel support is working properly, HAL won't need to be compiled with
libsmbios at all anyhow.<br>
