        <pre>*sigh*, in both good news and bad news, I'm no longer able to reproduce this
issue. After two weeks of cursing and manually downgrading my packages every
time I absentmindedly ran an update, it seems the solution was to try and debug
it.

Assuming I wasn't insane to begin with, the main thing I can think of is that a
whole BUNCH of software got updated between my having this issue and not,
including Steam, TF2, and Linux itself.

At any rate, marking this resolved. Thanks for your help, Matt. Although I
didn't make it to debugging, I at least have a better handle on building/using
custom versions of the drivers. If you need me, I'll be chastising my computer
for embarrassing me in front of devs.</pre>
