WRT modesetting, I'm happy with it.  Bouncing back and forth from X to console
and back, doing silly things like playing with the OpenGL screen savers and
such, the GPU gets wedged so rarely now that it's effectively unreproducible. 
It never crashes or locks up.  Also, KMS gripes about a bad monitor EDID from
time to time, not nearly as much as it used to do it.  As far as booting to a
console goes, just straight KMS with no interference from X11, it seems very
good, other than for the console blanking (wakeup?) issue.  On older kernels,
it used to oops in such situations.  Now, it gives something much more benign.

I'll try to brew up a 3.9.3 kernel.  Bandwidth is limited here, so I'll have to
check it out from a git that's already here.
