Ok. This isn't actually about the backlight, the link training fails before we
even get to the backlight part (but we may need to fix that too after we get
the link training to succeed).

It's odd... clock recover succeeds every time, but channel equalization fails.
Adding Todd to CC in case he has some ideas.
