<pre>Never mind. I'm an idiot. After gathering up the log information I noticed
that the Steam client was producing log entries while attempting to turn on
it's in-game UI. Turning that off resolves the issue. This must be a specific
issue related to Steam itself rather than the driver as this doesn't cause a
problem in other games.
