/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu$n/cpufreq/scaling_governor ; done

and then left the game running for a few hours while working today, and didn't
see any slowdowns. Obviously it's impossible to prove a negative, but so far
it's looking good. I'll give it some serious playtime over the next few days
and see if it recurs at all. Progress though, so thanks!</pre>
