<pre>A glimmer of understanding. That decidely points to the issue being the
_NET_WM_STATE fullscreen=true request of a window at (x_output, y_output) going
wrong. To clarify, it switched between desktops with Cinnamon and failed with
everything else?
Of course the puzzling thing remains the mystery what actually changed of
significance in the XRandR response. Just in case, can you do
$ xrandr --verbose
on working / broken setups?</pre>
