<pre>The theory that I had was wrong, it doesn't matter if the first-stage installer
kernel is old or not, still happens with a newer kernel.
And in fact I can reproduce this on 14.10 with WB and newer kernel.. at least
sometimes. Same ecode 0x85dffffb.</pre>
