So I just made a bit of a discovery in testing 3.18 on my V8P.
If I boot normally, or go through the firmware UI (hold down volume *up* key
when booting):
* Early boot, all the way from Dell logo to the point where KMS tries to kick
in, looks to be in native resolution (800x1280)
* KMS fails as described in this bug, screen blanks when it kicks in
But! If I boot through the boot device menu (hold down volume *down* key when
booting):
* Early boot is in some other resolution - lower, and not the right ratio, text
is squashed
* KMS works! When it kicks in, the display switches to native resolution
(800x1280) and I get a successful boot, all the way into a fully accelerated
GNOME session
So not sure if that helps anyone figure out what the bug is, but hey, at least
it's a workaround for me for now. I'll attach updated drm.debug logs from 3.18
soon.
