GPU crash dump
This same thing has been happening to me for about a year now, I get these
"stuck on render ring" hangs every now and then, I don't know if it's been the
same issue the whole time but now I'm finally filing a bug report...
Anyway, the easiest way to trigger these is by using Google Maps with Chromium.
I just need to scroll around a bit and *bam* the drivers hang and everything
freezes for a while. That's how this one happened.
Distro is Arch Linux with latest packages so:
xorg-server 1.16.3-1
xf86-video-intel 2.99.917-1
mesa 10.4.0-1
libdrm 2.4.58-1
linux 3.17.6-1
GPU is Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K
[340938.281440] [drm] stuck on render ring
[340938.282118] [drm] GPU HANG: ecode 0:0x85fffffc, in chromium [1282], reason:
Ring hung, action: reset
[340938.282119] [drm] GPU hangs can indicate a bug anywhere in the entire gfx
stack, including userspace.
[340938.282120] [drm] Please file a _new_ bug report on bugs.freedesktop.org
against DRI -> DRM/Intel
[340938.282121] [drm] drm/i915 developers can then reassign to the right
component if it's not a kernel issue.
[340938.282121] [drm] The gpu crash dump is required to analyze gpu hangs, so
please always attach it.
[340938.282122] [drm] GPU crash dump saved to /sys/class/drm/card0/error
dump attached.</pre>
