However, I've never done anything like that before and even after reading how to do this I'm unsure if I know how. Between Jan 17th, running 3.13.0-44-generic and 1 Feb after upgrading to 3.13.0-45-generic I experienced 12 'freezes' when running either kernel 3.18.3-031803-generic or 3.19.0-031900rc5-generic. I would not see the 'Hangcheck...' error but would see this: [drm:intel_crtc_cursor_set_obj] cursor off [drm:g4x_check_srwm] SR watermark: display plane 92, cursor 2 [drm:g4x_check_srwm] display watermark is too large(92/63), disabling [drm:intel_set_memory_cxsr] memory self-refresh is disabled [drm:g4x_update_wm] Setting FIFO watermarks - A: plane=40, cursor=2, B: plane=2, cursor=2, SR: plane=0, cursor=0 Which I have no idea what it means. The odd thing, to me, about all of the freezes whether it's the 'Hangcheck' error or the one above is that all background processes continue to run. On my Ubuntu system fetchmail, procmail and postfix continue running processing mail, cron jobs continue to run and so forth. It's as if the video freezes however when I it freezes with nothing but a black screen the mouse cursor continues to move. When it freezes in for instance Firefox again, the cursor will move and I can hover over something clickable and the cursor will change shape but of course nothing will happen when clicked. The clock will also freeze. My system would have been up for approximately 3 days yesterday at noon except the electric company had to shut power off to change the meter so I've had to start over. Right now it's at 21hrs since restarting running kernel 3.13.0-45-generic #74-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 13 19:36:28 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.
