<pre>I think it is a Feature. The 3rd PLL on Ivybridge is limited - only we have no
way yet of knowing if the user configuration is valid ahead of time and no way
of telling RandR of the limits.
If you did
$ xrandr --output LVDS1 --off --output HDMI1 --off --output DP2 --off
$ xrandr --output DP2 --preferred
$ xrandr --output HDMI1 --preferred --right-of DP2
$ xrandr --output LVDS1 --preferred --right-of HDMI1
do you get 3 pipes lit up?</pre>
