It happened to the last 3 distributions I've tested (Elementary OS, OpenSUSE, Arch Linux). Now I'm using Arch Linux with the 4.1.6 kernel and xf86-video-intel 1:2.99.917+381+g5772556-1. One thing that I've observed when installing Arch Linux is that the default acceleration method (SNA) produces video corruption on my hardware (Pentium Dual-Core E5700).
