It appears that since upgrading xf86-video-intel to latest version xrandr is no
longer able to detect all valid screen modes for my monitor.
I think xf86-video-intel must be the culprit as I can replicate the behaviour
by just upgrading/downgrading this one package on my arch linux system (no
other changes).
