<pre>I also have a MacBook4,1 (black, 2008, 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo T8300), and have had
the same problem (no backlight after resumption from suspend) on kernels 3.16
and later. Jani's 'drm/i915: quirk backlight present on Macbook 2007' patch on
a 4.1.12 kernel solved the problem for me.
I'd really like to see this fix end up in the mainstream kernel, so let me know
if there's anything I can do to help.</pre>
