[Intel-gfx] Help debugging a user issue with 2.4.2

Hi,

I've got a bug I'm having trouble tracking down for a user on the 2.4.2 
and wonder if people here may know the answer.

It's not really easy to test the 2.5 series with this user, but it can 
be done if it is expected to fix the problem.

The problem seems to stem from not getting the correct info about what 
is and is not attched to his machine. The laptop display seems to not 
dish out any EDID.
