Hello , I am using a regular Fedora 10 updated
I begging try testing xvmc

on xorg.conf
    Driver "intel"
    Option "XvMC" "true"

cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep -iP "XvMC"
(**) intel(0): Option "XvMC" "true"
(**) intel(0): Intel XvMC decoder enabled
(II) intel(0): [XvMC] i915_xvmc driver initialized.

I saw that mplayer from rpmfusion also enable xvmc
with --enable-xvmc --with-xvmclib=XvMCW .

So let's test it!

mplayer -vo xvmc -vc ffmpeg12mc regular.avi
end ups with :
Cannot find codec matching selected -vo and video format 0x58564944.
Read DOCS/HTML/en/codecs.html!

mplayer -vo xvmc -vc ffmpeg12mc mov001.mod
[VD_FFMPEG] XVMC-accelerated MPEG-2.

[intel_xvmc] err: DRM Device could not be opened.
vo_xvmc: XvMCCreateContext failed with error 2
